The working pattern of Department of co-operation comprises of General wing and Audit wing. General wing is headed by The Joint Registrar of cooperative societies (General).
Giving registration to cooperative societies and involving practically on its working by standing within the purview of The Kerala cooperative societies Act and Rules 1969 are the main objects of General wing. Seven Taluk level offices are working in all the seven Taluks in this District and Assistant Registrar of cooperative societies (General) is the head of a Taluk level office.
Services
- Giving registration to cooperative societies.
- Giving Registration to byelaws and its subsequent amendments after conducting proper verification and scrutiny.
- Conducting of election of the managing committee members of cooperative societies.
- Appointment of Administrator/Administrative committee to manage the affairs of a cooperative society when a managing committee fails to taken charge
- Providing Government aids to cooperative societies.
- Conducting of regular inspections. Conducting of inquiry when misappropriation and corruption was reported and also take action against those involved and realise the loss incurred to the cooperative society.
- Supervision of various functions of cooperative societies, giving directions to cooperative societies to work in accordance with The Kerala Cooperative societies Act, Rules ,Circulars of the Registrar of cooperative societies and orders of the Government.
